Tushpa Reserve Red Haghtanak 2015
The 2015 is the second vintage of its heralded Reserve Red. The wine is made from a selection of the estate's best Haghtanak grapes were fermented in steel tanks then aged for 14 months in Armenian Oak barrels.
A deep, dark purple wine, the 2015 Reserve coats the palate with dark plum, tart cherry and chocolate flavors. The vanilla notes of oak linger on the finish, but this not a wine dominated by new oak flavors. Rather, its round tannins, low alcohol (12.5%) and bright acid keep the wine light and well suited to pair with flavorful meat dishes.
By its nature Haghtanak makes powerful wines. Here, the winemaker's artistry has brought out the complexities and nuances from the fruit while keeping the wine true to its varietal nature.
